Every morning I wake up excited, with my head full of new ideas for pots and glaze patterns. Beginning with a base form, I work with a sense of play and experimentation, not always knowing knowing what I'm going to add next. The spontaneity of my process reminds me of some of my favorite childhood art projects, like making dioramas and whimsical doll beds. I use a mid-range porcelain clay, often letting the white base reveal its presence beneath colors and textures of glazes that I choose with love. I purposely leave my fingermarks in the wheel thrown clay.
I am happiest with my work when my sense of humor is evident, or when someone admires it like a tantalizing piece of candy.
